Dear Silver Spring,
I’m in love with you. I have been for a long time now. I love your tree-filled neighborhoods, passionate residents, and creative small businesses. I love knowing the hard working folks who took risks and started those businesses.
Sometimes though, you frustrate the heck out of me. What is up with the sky high retail rental rates for old, falling apart buildings? What does a lady have to do to find an affordable space to open a business around here?
I know that the only way things will change is if each one of us steps up and does our part. I’m not waiting for a government task force or a non-profit to fix this.
